The Big Bang Unico SR_A marks a new chapter in the collaboration between HUBLOT and Samuel Ross. This timepiece achieves a profound fusion of the SR_A design language and HUBLOT's in-house Unico movement – Ross's unique industrial design aesthetics and HUBLOT's most iconic chronograph movement harmonize to create this horological masterpiece.
The new limited-edition Big Bang Unico SR_A watch features a monochrome ceramic exterior paired with a newly developed honeycomb rubber strap. Building upon the design language established by the three previously released SR_A Tourbillon watches, it represents a significant aesthetic upgrade. The Big Bang Unico SR_A watch blends precision ceramic craftsmanship, industrial geometric aesthetics, and the exceptional performance of the Unico movement. It not only interprets the collaboration in a more universally appealing way but also adheres to Hublot's "The Art of Fusion" watchmaking philosophy and Ross's highly recognizable design style.
The creation of the Big Bang Unico SR_A watch marks the evolution of the collaboration between Hublot and Ross, based on structural aesthetics, material innovation, and contemporary industrial design. Since 2020, the two companies have pioneered a unique creative expression through three SR_A Tourbillon watches.
The new watch features a 42mm satin-finished and polished black ceramic case, inheriting the avant-garde geometric shape and modular design of the Big Bang series. The use of all-black ceramic material brings the SR_A design back to a sleek and minimalist aesthetic.
The core design focuses on Samuel Ross's iconic honeycomb pattern. This classic element, previously seen in SR_A sculptures and early limited-edition watches, is innovatively presented on a newly developed structured rubber strap for this timepiece. It combines lightweight design, ergonomics, and a strong architectural aesthetic, further enhancing the industrial character of the SR_A series. The matte black skeletonized dial showcases the core components of the Unico movement: the column wheel at 6 o'clock and the open chronograph movement's mechanical structure. This transparent design directly presents the intricate technical architecture of the HUB1280 movement—featuring a flyback chronograph function and a silicon escapement, providing a 72-hour power reserve.
This limited edition of 200 pieces marks a strategic expansion of the collaboration between the two parties. Compared to the earlier SR_A watches, which focused on small-batch production and sculptural tourbillon structures, the new Big Bang Unico SR_A watch integrates the artist's iconic style into a more universal and diverse form, further strengthening the connection between the collaboration and the broader Big Bang collection.
